Series: The Things About Our Industry That Drive Us Crazy

Number 1: Foggy Pricing

As an interior designer there are dozens of ways to charge clients. None of them being right or particularly wrong. Some charge design fees, some are hourly, some charge for ordering you items, and some charge their clients retail pricing while keeping the difference between their pricing and the retail. It's confusing at best and it gets complicated. I've always valued transparent and upfront pricing. When I pay for something I want to know what it costs and not have the price change on me mid-stream. When that happens to me, I always feel a bit…duped….and that's the last thing I want my clients to feel when working with me.

What I Offer: Upfront and Transparent Pricing

This means at the beginning of your kitchen project, before you have signed on to work with me, I will give you a quote that outlines the design fees in their entirety and any other fee related information you need to have. Upfront pricing allows you to factor the design fees into your overall budget and make a plan.

There's also the sticky topic of designer discounts. I have always passed along my designer discounts to my clients and will continue to do so (discounts can range from 5% - 35% off of retail). I will get you the best price offered to me. I view it as a perk of working with me and it helps stretch your budget further.

Many of my client's have saved enough by using my discounts to cover my design fees. They get a professionally designed space AND the items they were going to purchase anyways…pretty great right?

We always want our client's to walk away feeling happy with their kitchen and the process it took to get there. If you are ready to chat with us about your kitchen you can book a complimentary 20 minute Discovery Call to get the ball rolling. We would love to hear from you!
